Spectrum Auction of 2.1 GHz for NTN

CST has identified the 2100 MHz band for NTN applications through a spectrum auction. CST aims through the auction to adopt the latest generation of satellite technologies and facilitate a hosting environment for NTN technologies such as 5G - non terrestrial networks (5G – NTN), mobile satellite services (MSS), internet on airplane (A2G), and internet of things via satellite (MSS-IoT).​

MAY 2021 Public Consultation on “Information Memorandum and Auction Rules​” for the 5th spectrum auction
The document included the initial plan on the target frequency bands to be released in several spectrum auctions, including the auction of non-terrestrial networks in the band (2100) MHz
OCT 2021 The 1st Draft of Information Memorandum for Spectrum Auction of 2100 MHz for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) for Public Consultation​
It included information related to auction rules and design elements such as:
  • Frequency bands and block size
  • Protentional Radio services and technologies
  • Terms and Obligations
  • Eligibility Conditions
  • Reserved Prices
  • Timeline of the auction

Based on the feedback, CST have published the updated IM alongside with publishing the framework regulation for the NTN
