LEO Satellite Broadband & Backhauling

Broadband Satellite using NGSO satellite network is an emerging technology that supports data transmission from remote locations that does not have a network coverage, the trial will show the speed for a transition of data and the latency. Also, setting up a conference call and testing the speed in some high-quality videos.

Ground Segment

Extremely low latency with an average of 32 milliseconds

Seamless beam and satellite handovers

Accurate antenna pointing and tracking

Live streamed video at resolutions up to 1080p (Full HD)

Test speed rates of more than 400 Mbps (depends on the speed of public internet connection on the Gateway side)

Understanding that this is an ad hoc implementation that provides higher bandwidth to a single user

The trial was conducted in one of Aramco's remote sites located in the Shudgm area. The trial aims to demonstrate the potential use of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites for broadband coverage for remote area.

The schematic diagram of the trial is illustrated in Figure 1, where the internet data is connected to an OneWeb gateway in Dharan site and the user terminal in Shudgm area. The trial setup can be categorized into two main segments, namely Ground and Space.
