Through the Space Law, the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) aims to create the legislative and regulatory environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the space sector in a way that leads to its development and in a manner that enhances and achieves the goals and objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, to enable a vibrant society, a prosperous economy and an ambitious nation. CST explained that it seeks, through the Space Law, to find a legal basis to keep pace with developments in the space sector at the local and international levels, by benefiting from the best global legislative experiences and practices to regulate space activities, encourage investment in them, and expand their operations, whether for source or downstream activities, in order to achieve the desired economic and social returns for the kingdom.
