The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) announced eight local and international companies that excelled in delivering high-quality tech products using six emerging technologies, which contribute to the growth of the digital economy and support tech markets with business models and innovative solutions. These companies are part of the first cohort of the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox (Sandbox), and have been awarded for successfully completing their participation in the Sandbox during the Digital Technology Forum 2023.

Through the Sandbox, CST was able to establish a flexible environment for innovative business models, solutions, and services based on emerging technologies, aiming to understand related regulations and challenges, support entrepreneurs and innovators in emerging technologies, and promote inclusive tech products in the market.

CST stated that the first cohort has provided groundbreaking innovations across multiple sectors, (Microsoft) showcased its product “HoloLens2” a mixed reality headset, (DEMA ENERGY) contribution was an eco-friendly and energy efficient portable data center, while (MasterWorks) unveiled a platform that uses Artificial Intelligence and cameras to analyze data. Also, (Tata Communications) provided a platform and solutions for connected vehicles, (Future Look) introduced a unique product called “Labeah” an Arabic intelligent voice assistant, while (Siemens) has successfully localized an industrial IoT platform known as “MindSphere”. In addition to these impressive innovations, (Moltazim) presented their platform which provides Regulatory Technology services, and (Tygo) has developed an aggregator platform that uses Artificial Intelligence and Big Data to recommend appropriate voice and data packages according to customers’ inputs and needs.

It is worth noting that CST has introduced the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox, which caters to all investors and companies in the technology sector, with the aim to focus on enabling new services, promoting the digital economy, enhancing regulatory flexibility and maturity, fostering collaboration among government entities, all while protecting consumers. This comprehensive approach is strategically designed to stimulate economic growth and attract investments.
