As Part of Its Public Consultation: Communications, Space and Technology Commission: Caller ID Display an Optional Service for Corporate Entities in the Kingdom

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission announced the release of a public consultation document on the technical specification for displaying the name of the calling entity, which includes the technical standards to be followed in telecommunications networks and mobile phone devices to support and activate the service, whereby the service will allow the display of names of corporate entities only to users, whether government or private, when they call them, through those entities subscribing to the service with service providers.

The Commission noted that the service aims to raise the reliability of incoming calls from corporate entities for the user, ensure the alignment of telecommunications networks with mobile phone manufacturers, employ modern technologies to reduce spoofed calls and protect users, and contribute to reducing reliance on untrusted programs and applications that violate the privacy of users' contacts.

The Commission invited all relevant entities and interested parties inside and outside the Kingdom from all sectors to submit their views, comments and suggestions on what is contained in this document by no later than 17 August 2023.
