With More Than 100,000 Devices Worth Over SAR 30 Million: Communications, Space and Technology Commission Concludes “Dawwir Jihazak” (Recycle Your Device) Initiative

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission announced the conclusion of the “Dawwir Jihazak” (Recycle Your Device) initiative, having collected more than 100,000 devices during the initiative with a market value exceeding SAR 30 million, aiming to achieve environmental sustainability, reduce electronic waste, enhance social responsibility, and enable needy families to obtain recycled electronic devices.

The Commission outlined the most notable figures achieved in the national initiative, the first of its kind, during which more than 240 tons were recycled and repaired, and more than 120 schools and charitable associations were supported with recycled devices, which helped reduce carbon emissions contributing to lowering global warming by 0.03°C.

The Commission also noted the effective role of partners in the public and private sectors, which contributed to supporting and spreading the initiative, with 30 entities participating by donating their used devices, and more than 25 entities hosting the “Dawwir Jihazak” initiative's corner to receive electronic devices and raise awareness among their staff about the importance and goals of the initiative.

It should be noted that the Commission launched the Dawwir Jihazak initiative last September in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN), and a number of private sector entities, as a step to reduce waste generated by electronic devices, contribute to reducing future raw material costs, preserve the Kingdom's natural resources, and achieve sustainability in accordance with the circular economy principle.
