Under the Patronage of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and in Cooperation with the ITU: Communications Commission Prepares to Begin the International Non-Terrestrial Networks Forum Tomorrow, Tuesday, with Participation from More Than 110 Countries
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Alswaha, and in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union, the International Non-Terrestrial Networks Forum will begin tomorrow in Riyadh, organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission with the participation of more than 110 countries around the world. The forum aims to discuss developments in modern space and aerial telecommunications networks and the opportunities and challenges accompanying their deployment from scientific, technical and regulatory perspectives, and to review global momentum towards providing telecommunications services via these networks, with the forum's activities held during the period 8-10 of this November.
Through more than 15 dialogue and academic sessions, the forum will address six main themes: the integration of space and terrestrial telecommunications networks; the future of sixth-generation (6G) technology through non-terrestrial networks to be deployed in the atmospheric layers and outer space; developments, opportunities and challenges in delivering telecommunications services via non-terrestrial networks and covering digital gaps around the world; space protection policies and responsibility in deploying space systems; and orbital debris and sustainable development in space, with more than 90 speakers participating in these sessions. The forum targets representatives of the public and private sectors, those interested in radiocommunications and space, researchers and specialists in the telecommunications and information technology sector, and local and global regulatory entities for frequency spectrum policies and regulations. The forum will also feature a review of technical solutions, modern experiences, and their technical and scientific aspects.
The forum will also witness the announcement of the results of the global research competition launched by the Commission in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the field of non-terrestrial networks, through the Future Networks initiative for beyond-5G and 6G, in which more than 100 researchers participated through 28 research papers from more than 30 universities and research centers, with the best three scientific papers submitted to be honored tomorrow.
