To Enhance Competitiveness in Service Provider Performance, the Communications Commission Reveals Internet Speeds of Telecommunications Service Providers for Q3

The Communications and Information Technology Commission revealed, today, Sunday, the average download speed in the Kingdom during the third quarter of 2020, reaching 73.42 Mbps, compared to the global average data download rate of 34.67 Mbps, according to the results of the “Miqyas” report on internet speed and digital content access speed indicators in the Kingdom.

The Commission noted, in the “Miqyas” report, that Saudi Telecom Company (STC) topped the list of companies in average mobile internet download speeds, recording an average speed of 78.17 Mbps, followed in second and third place respectively by Mobily with an average speed of 67.71, and Zain with an average speed of 61.58 Mbps.

Zain topped the list of telecommunications companies in fixed internet speed with a download speed of 110.88 Mbps, followed in second and third place respectively by Integrated Telecom Company with an average speed of 84.79, and Mobily with an average speed of 76.68 Mbps.

The Commission noted, in the “Miqyas” report, that Saudi Telecom Company (STC) topped the list of telecommunications companies' performance in mobile internet download speed in the regions of: Riyadh, Makkah, the Eastern Province, the Northern Borders, Al-Qassim, Al-Jawf, Tabuk, Al-Baha, and Jazan, while Mobily topped the telecommunications companies in mobile internet download speed in the regions of: Madinah, Hail, Najran, and Asir.

It should be noted that the “Communications Commission” works to enhance competitiveness among telecommunications service providers to deliver the best services to users, by raising the level of market transparency through the publication of data results and indicators, and enabling investors and interested parties to access market performance indicators in the Kingdom.
