By Allocating Necessary Frequencies and Providing Field Teams, the Communications Commission Completes Its Preparations for the Success of the 2022 Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix

The Communications and Information Technology Commission has completed its preparations to contribute to the success of the 2022 Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix, held on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, allocating more than 500 frequencies to support this global event and contribute to operating the various applications required by the equipment used in the races of the participating categories, “F1 and F2.”

Through its working teams, the Commission provides the necessary technical support to ensure the alignment of the infrastructure for this massive event, which is attracting global attention, while frequency spectrum monitoring teams are tasked with ensuring that the frequencies allocated to the entities participating in the race are free of any external interference that could affect the performance and quality of services during the race, as well as ensuring that the frequencies allocated to telecommunications service providers at all event service locations are free of any external interference affecting communication quality.

The Commission handles complaints from emergency telecommunications service providers during the event, through its field teams prepared to act on incoming complaints, and also provides numerous equipment including a monitoring vehicle and handheld direction-finding devices, while continuing to coordinate with the organizing entities to ensure performance efficiency and communication quality throughout the global event.

Through the frequencies it has provided, the Commission works to activate the role of safety and technical monitoring means for the cars participating in the race, broadcasting the race via live broadcast cameras from the cars, providing frequencies for cameras of media channels covering the race, as well as the necessary frequencies for wireless communication equipment between members of the participating teams, the frequencies allocated to reporters' microphones for media coverage of the event, and providing frequencies for wireless communication devices to contribute to organizing the parties and events accompanying the race.

It is noted that the Commission contributed to the success of last year's edition of the 2021 Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix, covering both race categories “F1 and F2,” and made available 510 frequencies to contribute to the success of the event with its various applications.
