National Regulations Committee Holds Its Periodic Meeting Chaired by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission
The National Regulations Committee held its periodic meeting, chaired by His Excellency the Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission and attended by their Excellencies, members of the Committee; with the aim of aligning the regulation of digital topics shared among entities, and ensuring the highest level of coordination and cooperation among regulatory entities in the Kingdom, through conducting studies to evaluate best practices, presenting proposals, and launching initiatives for knowledge-sharing among entities, in a manner that serves the interest of the digital regulatory environment across various vital sectors.
Their Excellencies discussed the topics on the agenda, reviewing a number of programs, initiatives and recommendations the Committee has worked on and the level of progress made on a number of topics related to digital regulatory aspects, and a number of proposals aimed at enhancing digital regulation in the Kingdom on several topics, which included cloud computing, connected cars, GIS data integration policies, data sharing and monetization, drones, and RegTech use cases, in addition to 10 initiatives emerging from the studies and 4 RegTech use cases. The meeting also addressed the mechanism for selecting the topics for 2023 studies, and the achievements of the Digital Regulations Academy during 2022.
It should be noted that the National Regulations Committee, whose membership includes the Water and Electricity Regulatory Commission, the General Competition Commission, the Capital Market Commission, the General Commission for Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Commission, the General Transport Commission, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Commission, the Commission for Audiovisual Media, and the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, was established as a strategic step to provide an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for various sectors, and as one of the enhancers of investment in the digital economy and accelerating digital transformation in the Kingdom.
