National Regulations Committee Issues Its First Report Highlighting Its Achievements and Future Directions During 2022
The National Regulations Committee issued
its first report for the past year, 2022, where the report aims to introduce the Committee, its history, establishment, and objectives, and to highlight its initiatives and the studies it conducts, as well as sharing its most notable achievements and future directions.
The report tracks the accelerating digital regulatory development in the Kingdom, and the resulting establishment of the National Regulations Committee within the collaborative work track, where the Committee was formed of nine members from regulatory entities in the Kingdom with the aim of coordinating on topics related to telecommunications, technology, digitization, and emerging technologies.
The report highlights the stages of the Committee's work and its establishment within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030 through the National Digital Transformation Committee, which led to its membership being formed from the Capital Market Commission, the Water and Electricity Regulatory Commission, the General Competition Commission, the General Transport Commission, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Commission, the General Commission for Audiovisual Media, the General Commission for Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Commission, and the Communications, Space and Technology Commission.
The report addresses the results of the diagnostic study presented by the Commission on the current state of the regulatory environment in the Kingdom and its findings, passing through the stages of the Committee's establishment, its members and objectives, up to its proactive and interactive work in studying emerging and new topics and presenting recommendations and initiatives regarding them.
The report highlights the most notable efforts made during the past two years among Committee members and stakeholders, as well as the most prominent regulatory topics, surveys and interviews with field experts and the recommendations addressed, in addition to explaining the mechanism for studying digital regulatory topics during the current year, and the Committee's future goals and directions.
It is noted that the National Regulations Committee was formed as a strategic step to provide an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for various vital sectors, and as one of the enhancers of investment in the digital economy and accelerating the Kingdom's transformation into a digital society.
