The National Regulations Committee Held Its Regular Meeting Chaired by CST

The National Regulations Committee held its regular meeting, chaired by H.E. Eng. Haytham AlOhali, Acting Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), with the participation of distinguished members of the committee.

The meeting aimed to align efforts in regulating shared digital topics among entities and reinforce coordination and collaboration between regulatory bodies in the Kingdom.

This is achieved through conducting studies to assess best practices, submitting proposals, launching initiatives to bridge regulatory gaps, and fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building across key sectors.

The meeting reviewed the implementation status of the previous meetings’ recommendations and discussed the outcomes of the AI regulations in digital markets.

It also included an overview of upcoming regulatory agenda for 2025, which features studies on panoramic imaging technologies and navigation applications, digital sustainability in the public sector, and a competitive assessment of companies delivering data-driven services to government agencies.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the ongoing coordination efforts to support the participation of member entities in the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25), scheduled to be held in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the committee’s member entities, including: the Capital Market Authority, the Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority, the General Authority for Competition, the Transport General Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, the General Authority of Media Regulation, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Digital Government Authority, and CST.

The National Regulations Committee was established as a strategic initiative to create an enabling regulatory framework for various sectors, to boost investment in the digital economy, and to advance Saudi Arabia’s shift toward a digital society.
