National Information Society Committee Holds Its Eighth Meeting
The National Information Society Committee held its eighth meeting on Monday, 18/10/1431H, corresponding to 27/09/2010, at the headquarters of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, chaired by His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission and Chairman of the National Information Society Committee, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Jaafari, and with the attendance of its members representing a number of government entities and civil society.
During the meeting, a number of the Committee's activities were discussed, in addition to following up on the activities of the Information for All Programme, which is one of its areas of focus, and the Committee's achievements during the past period were reviewed through the reports of its working groups.
It is worth noting that the Committee aims to raise the level of public understanding and awareness in support of the directions aimed at transforming the Kingdom into an information society, as it seeks to devote effort to expanding the circle of participation among all segments of society to advance the development process in the country and affirm the importance of the vital interaction leading to fulfilling the requirements of transformation into an information society. At the global level, the Committee plays an important and vital role in encouraging relevant national institutions with the various activities and goals included in UNESCO's Information for All Programme, as the Committee serves as a link facilitating the flow of information between UNESCO, the Information for All Programme (IFAP), and the national institutions concerned with the information exchange process.
