Kingdom Participates in the 44th Meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information
The Kingdom, represented by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, participated last week in the 44th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information, and the 13th meeting of the Arab Internet Affairs Working Group, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
During the meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information, representatives of member states discussed the results of the meetings of the committee's working group tasked with developing the existing structure and its updates within the framework of the Arab Council of Ministers of Communications and Information, in addition to the most important key events in 2019, and following up on the implementation of capacity-building programs and the activities of the ITU Arab Centers of Excellence Network. The Kingdom also presented a report on the results and outcomes of the 2019 ITU Council meeting.
During the meeting of the Arab Internet Affairs Working Group, the Kingdom was elected chair of the Internet Affairs Group by the representatives of member states, and the Kingdom presented its comments on the Arab Digital Economy Strategy, and put forward a number of other initiatives that would advance Arab cooperation in the field of telecommunications and information technology.
It should be noted that the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information is one of the permanent technical committees emanating from the Arab Council of Ministers of Communications and Information Technology, and the committee is scheduled to hold its 45th meeting in the capital, Riyadh, in late 2019, coinciding with the 23rd session of the Arab Council of Ministers of Communications and Information Technology.
