Kingdom Chairs GCC Group Tasked with Preparing for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019

The Kingdom was nominated to chair the Gulf Cooperation Council Group tasked with preparing for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19), during the meeting of the Gulf Group held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, during the period from 25 to 27 Jumada Al-Akhirah 1437H, and a new structure for the group was also approved during the meeting, consisting of five working groups, whereby each working group prepares and follows up on studies related to a number of the conference's agenda items in the study committees of the ITU Radiocommunication Sector, in order to coordinate and unify the positions of the GCC countries towards the conference's topics in a way that achieves their interests, and enhances the provision of telecommunications services in the GCC countries and keeps pace with technical trends in this sector.

The meeting also addressed the agenda items of the 2019 conference, which include issues related to the land mobile and fixed services, broadband applications in the mobile service, satellite services, science services, maritime service, aeronautical service, and amateur services.

It should be noted that the Kingdom participated in the meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Communications and Information Technology Commission, headed by Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader, Chairman of the Gulf Cooperation Council Group for the next term, which runs from 2016 to 2019.
