Governor of the "Communications Commission" Thanks the Leadership for the Unlimited Support the Commission Received During Its Regulation and Oversight of the Postal Sector Over the Past Three Years

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, extended thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense – may God preserve them both – for the unlimited and continuous support the Communications Commission has received during its regulation and oversight of the postal sector over the past three years.

Al-Tamimi considered what the Commission has achieved in this sector an embodiment of the support and care the Commission has received from the wise leadership, through the follow-up and supervision of His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Commission's Board of Directors, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, which has given the sector a distinguished standing as part of its efforts to establish the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub and achieve the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.

His Excellency noted that the Commission has enhanced the postal sector's roles in promoting economic diversification, growing e-commerce, and supporting sustainable development, and that the sector has also achieved record figures over the past three years, as the parcel delivery market witnessed a quarterly increase in the number of postal items from 8 million to 28 million, the number of licensees rose from 9 to 145, and market size rose from 5 billion to 7 billion riyals, comparing the second quarter of 2019 to the second quarter of 2022.

His Excellency noted that the postal sector also recorded qualitative leaps in the growth of the delivery applications market, as the daily number of orders rose from 238,000 to 577,000 orders, and the daily value of orders exceeded 24 million to reach 64 million riyals, while the number of active Saudi delivery agents rose from 6,000 to 66,000 active agents, comparing the second quarter of 2019 to the second quarter of 2022.
