Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission Inspects Communications and Information Technology Services Provided to Pilgrims
His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, accompanied by a number of Commission officials, conducted a field inspection visit to the sites of communications and information technology service providers operating in the Holy Sites in the Makkah region, to review the preparations of telecommunications companies licensed by the Commission and their readiness to serve the guests of the Most Merciful in the Holy Sites and the availability of communications and information technology services.
During this visit, His Excellency was briefed on the technical equipment for fixed and mobile telecommunications services as well as wireless Wi-Fi networks, and the new services provided through these networks, which have been dedicated to serving pilgrims to the House of God in the Grand Mosque and the Holy Sites, and which meet the needs of the government and private sectors. His Excellency also commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of the Makkah Region, and his directives – may God preserve him – to all relevant government entities to cooperate with Commission officials and specialists at service provider companies to overcome any difficulties the companies may face, while affirming at the same time the importance of integration and combined efforts by all to provide high-quality communications services to pilgrims to the House of God
At the conclusion of the inspection tour, His Excellency Dr. Al-Ruwais commended the efforts of service providers in this regard, which were consistent with the generous support this sector receives from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may God preserve him.
It is worth noting that the communications and information technology infrastructure in the Makkah region receives close attention from telecommunications service providers, in terms of using the latest technologies, equipment, switches, transmission networks, cabinets, and wireless stations supporting 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile phone services.
