Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission Extends Congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on the Success of This Year's Hajj Season

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission extended, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Commission's staff, sincere congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense – may God preserve them – on the great success achieved for this year's Hajj on all fronts.

His Excellency affirmed the support of the wise leadership – may God preserve it – for providing the best services to the guests of the Most Merciful, through the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of the Makkah Region and Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, and His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Madinah Region.

In a related context, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, announced the success of the operational plan for the communications and information technology sector for this year's Hajj season 1438H, noting that this year witnessed a significant increase in the use of communications and information technology by the guests of the Most Merciful, and stating that the preparations and plans for this year's Hajj season had been implemented, praise be to God, in an outstanding and successful manner and according to what was planned, in cooperation with telecommunications companies and government and private entities related to the Hajj season.

Al-Ruwais affirmed that this success would not have been achieved without God, and then the support and guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense – may God preserve them – and the follow-up and supervision of His Excellency Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Commission's Board of Directors.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ruwais explained that network performance recorded, praise be to God, high levels through more than (13,000) 2G, 3G and 4G mobile phone stations, with the call success indicator exceeding (99%) in both Makkah and Madinah, noting that the capacity of mobile telecommunications service providers' networks in Makkah and Madinah reached (75) million subscribers.

The Governor of the Commission noted that data traffic volume exceeded (20,000) terabytes compared to (13,000) terabytes during last year's Hajj season (1437H), as a result of the availability of advanced infrastructure from 3G networks and increased 4G mobile network capacities, in addition to the availability of Wi-Fi networks.

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission concluded his statement by praying to Almighty God to accept the pilgrims' Hajj, and to return them safely to their families and homelands, and to preserve for our country the blessing of security and stability.
