Digital Regulations Academy Holds Two Seminars to Benefit from Best Regulatory Practices and Expertise and Keep Pace with Future Developments and Trends
The Digital Regulations Academy held two seminars on the regulatory landscape of the digital economy and on keeping pace with global changes in the regulation of digital content platforms, aimed at improving the effectiveness of the regulatory environment in the Kingdom, benefiting from best regulatory practices and expertise, and keeping pace with future developments and trends, with the attendance of more than 80 specialists in regulation, law, strategy, and business development from 14 different entities from the public and private sectors.
During the first seminar, titled "The Regulatory Landscape of the Digital Economy," presented by Dr. Mateja Durovic, Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Centre for Technology, Ethics, Law and Society at King's College London, the most prominent regulatory opportunities and challenges of the digital economy and the regulation of internet platforms in the digital economy were discussed. The seminar also addressed topics on user protection, shaping the regulatory and legal landscape for an environment supportive of innovation and development, in addition to the latest developments in laws and regulations amid the accelerating pace of digitalization.
The second seminar, titled "Keeping Pace with Global Changes in the Regulation of Digital Content Platforms," presented by Dr. Derek Ritzmann, an expert in economics, policy and competition law and Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong, addressed the significant role played by digital content platforms and their related regulations, in addition to discussing international government efforts and the efforts of the international community in developing regulations and policies related to digital content platforms, and the lessons learned from current experiences in this field and how the Kingdom can benefit from them.
These seminars come as part of a package of programs offered by the Digital Regulations Academy in partnership with leading international institutions and organizations, and in cooperation with global experts and researchers, through which the Commission seeks to achieve its strategic objectives in the sector, enrich national personnel with regulatory practices and expertise, in addition to achieving regulatory excellence and maturity and accelerating the Kingdom's transformation into a digital economy.
