Communications Commission Holds CST Talk Event to Raise Awareness Among the Deaf and Hard of Hearing About Financial Fraud

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission, represented by the User Protection Sector, held the CST Talk event, aimed at raising awareness among users with disabilities from the deaf and hard-of-hearing community about financial fraud, enhancing awareness of methods to combat financial fraud, and introducing the most prominent technical initiatives to facilitate their technology experience.

The event saw the participation of a number of specialists in technology and disability research, along with a group of deaf individuals and those interested in special education, led by Dr. Majed Al-Salem, a specialist in technology and disability research, Dr. Hanaa Al-Zahrani, a specialist in special education, Mr. Abdullah Al-Muhammadi, owner of a YouTube channel for the deaf, master's student Hamad Al-Humaid, and multiple award-winning student Fatimah Nassib, where a number of topics were discussed, most notably financial fraud and the importance of awareness in combating methods of financial fraud, alongside highlighting some technical initiatives to facilitate the lives of the deaf.

The event also included a special segment for guidance and counseling sessions for the deaf provided by specialists on certain matters related to the event's topic and themes, to help them overcome the challenges they face in their daily lives.

The organization of this initiative comes as part of activating the Commission's social roles, through which it seeks to engage the deaf and hard-of-hearing community from all regions of the Kingdom through in-person and virtual dialogue sessions, and to contribute to enriching their knowledge on how to protect themselves from attempts at deception and exploitation that they may face from fraudsters.
