Board of Directors of the Commission Decides to Partially Suspend Prepaid Communications Service Provided by Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) for New Subscribers

In line with the role of the Communications and Information Technology Commission in protecting the public interest, and as a continuation of measures previously taken to curb the spread of prepaid SIM cards with unknown identities or registered in the names of individuals without their knowledge, the Commission's Board of Directors has decided to partially suspend the prepaid communications service provided by Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily) for new subscribers, effective 10 Muharram 1434H (corresponding to November 24, 2012), until the company complies with the full implementation of the controls for providing prepaid communications service, including implementing the decision to link the top-up of prepaid SIM cards to the ID number.
