Advisory Council of the National Communications and Information Technology Academy Holds Its First Meeting

The Advisory Council of the National Communications and Information Technology Academy held its first meeting today at the headquarters of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, CEO of the Academy, with the membership of the founding partners, leading companies in the field of communications and information technology, as well as several representatives from Saudi universities. The meeting discussed the skills required for the communications and information technology job market and future employment opportunities, and concluded by strengthening the strategic relationship between council members and the National Communications and Information Technology Academy through introducing the available means of sponsorship and methods of support, in order to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the Academy. The Advisory Council expects that the Academy's work will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Communications and Information Technology Commission, the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, and Saudi Aramco signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the National Communications and Information Technology Academy on November 24, 2016, with the aim of qualifying and training Saudi talent and the workforce in communications and information technology skills and sciences, in parallel with the actual employment requirements of the communications and information technology sector, in order to achieve the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 with regard to the qualification, training and employment of Saudis.

This comes in line with the Vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 and in parallel with the National Transformation Program 2020, which calls for supporting and advancing the Kingdom's economy, developing the communications and information technology sector, and building qualified national personnel.
