Supplementary Press Release Regarding the Extension of BlackBerry Messenger Service for 48 Hours

Further to the press release issued by the Commission on 22 Sha'ban 1431H regarding the suspension of BlackBerry Messenger service, in which the suspension deadline was set for 25 Sha'ban 1431H, and in view of the efforts currently being made by mobile telecommunications service providers to fulfil the regulatory requirements of the Commission's regulations and the terms of their licenses, they have been granted an additional 48-hour grace period ending at the end of next Monday, 28 Sha'ban 1431H, to test the proposed solutions.

In light of the results reached by the service providers, the appropriate action will be taken regarding whether or not to suspend the service.
