Holding the Position of Vice-Chair of the Conference.. The Kingdom Participates in the World Telecommunication Development Conference Held in "Rwanda"

The Kingdom, represented by the Communications and Information Technology Commission, participated in the World Telecommunication Development Conference held in the Rwandan capital, "Kigali," in its capacity as Vice-Chair of the conference and representative of the Arab region. His Excellency Rwandan President Paul Kagame opened the conference's sessions, in the presence of ITU Secretary-General Mr. Houlin Zhao, with the participation of high-level delegations from 193 member states of the Union and international organizations specialized in the communications sector.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, headed the Kingdom's delegation at the conference, held under the slogan "Connecting the World's Telecommunication Network to Achieve Sustainable Development." The Kingdom's delegation, comprising a number of national entities specialized in development and communications work, contributed to the workshops and meetings held on the sidelines of the conference, which reinforce the Kingdom's efforts and goals in supporting the pace of prosperity and growth in the fields of communications and digital transformation, and harnessing all capabilities for the progress and prosperity of humanity.

The conference, held periodically every four years, aims to devise new methods and models of cooperation, and to promote and disseminate digital solutions, in addition to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and determining future strategies and goals for the communications sector.

It is noted that the Kingdom plays an active role in the conference's proceedings, as it chairs the Arab Group in preparation for it, while the World Telecommunication Development Conference, through its sessions, seeks to determine the future strategies and goals of the ITU's Telecommunication Development Sector.
