National Regulations Committee Appreciates Leadership's Support for Achieving the Kingdom's Classification at the Highest Levels of Digital Regulatory Maturity

The National Regulations Committee extended the highest expressions of thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense -may God preserve them both- for what was achieved as a result of their support and empowerment of the committee's members, which led to the Kingdom's classification at the highest levels of the "Digital Regulatory Maturity Index" for telecommunications regulators around the world -"Level Five"- issued by the International Telecommunication Union.

This came following the third meeting of the National Regulations Committee, chaired by His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, and attended by its members: the Saudi Central Bank, the Capital Market Authority, the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority, the General Authority for Competition, the General Authority for Transport, the General Authority for Audiovisual Media, and the National Data Management and AI Authority, as entities with a regulatory role in the digital sectors.

The committee appreciated the fruit of its efforts within Saudi Vision 2030 in achieving level five, placing the Kingdom first in the Middle East and Africa and ninth among G20 countries, affirming that this could not have been achieved without the wise leadership's empowerment of all entities and its support for continuing to enhance the Kingdom's leadership and standing regionally and internationally.

The committee works to ensure the achievement of the highest level of coordination and cooperation between regulatory bodies, and alignment in regulating shared digital topics between entities, by conducting studies to evaluate best practices, and providing proposals and recommendations, and launching initiatives to share knowledge between entities, in a way that serves the interest of enhancing the digital regulatory environment in various vital sectors.

It is noted that the National Regulations Committee was established by decision of the National Digital Transformation Committee as a strategic step to provide an attractive and stimulating regulatory environment for various sectors, to enhance investment in the digital economy and accelerate digital transformation in all sectors.
