CST Grants the Carrier Service Provider License to NWC During LEAP26

The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) granted a Carrier Service Provider License (CSP) to the National Water Company (NWC) during the international technology conference LEAP26, with the company’s expected investments reaching 455M SAR (121.3M $), to develop the telecommunications sector, maximize the utilization of companies’ existing infrastructure, foster an enabling environment for advanced technologies, and attract global technology pioneers.

The license was presented in the presence of Eng. Mazen Alnasser, Licensing General Manager at CST, and Eng. Mohsen Alsalmi, the Deputy Governor for Branches the Saudi Water Authority (SWA), to Mr. Nasser Alkhelaiwi, Chief Financial Officer at NWC. The license will enable NWC to provide services to its customers in accordance with the defined scope of the license.

CST explained that granting NWC the Carrier Services License will enable utility companies to leverage surplus capacity in their existing infrastructure, including fiber-optic networks, towers, and culverts, by making it accessible to service providers with individual licenses. It will also promote greater utilization of existing infrastructure and improve its efficiency among licensed service providers.  

The license is one of the services provided by CST to develop the domestic market and advance the national telecommunications sector. It also aims to strengthen telecom infrastructure, supporting sector growth, boosting competitiveness, as well as expanding the business scope and provided services.
