CST Calls for Voting for Saudi Projects in WSIS Prizes 2026

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has called on the public to vote for Saudi projects competing to win the World Summit on the Information Society Prizes (WSIS 2026), to support national projects globally and foster digital development in various sectors.

The nominated Saudi projects are competing in 18 categories, selecting the most notable initiatives that harnessed telecommunications and technology solutions to implement the outcomes of WSIS and support the objectives of the Global Digital Compact, which focus on bridging the digital divide, expanding inclusivity in the digital economy, promoting an inclusive and open digital space, adopting approaches to data governance and security, in addition to improving international governance of AI to serve humanity.

CST indicated that in 2026 Saudi Arabia is participating with 27 national projects, representing 17 public and private entities, noting that voting will be available until 3 May 2026 via the ITU’s website: https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/Prizes/2026/Vote.

Since 2012, Saudi Arabia has maintained a significant presence in WSIS Prizes, winning 15 prizes and 41 certificates of excellence at the summit organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in partnership with more than 50 other UN entities. The annual event aims to highlight digital projects supporting the Summit's outcomes and SDGs.
