DRA Holds Two Training Programs titled “ Space Regulatory” and “ Introduction to Space Sustainability”
The Digital Regulatory Academy (DRA) held two training programs titled “Space Regulation” and “Introduction to Space Sustainability”.
The first program targeted specialists in public policy, regulatory law, economics, and engineering from diplomatic missions in Geneva, as well as space experts from the member states of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
While the second program focused on the ITU personnel.
These programs aimed to enhance knowledge of space governance and resource management, support human skills to address regulatory challenges, promote future opportunities in the space sector, and raise awareness about the importance of space sustainability.
The programs were attended by over 100 trainees from more than 30 countries.
The “Space Regulation” program featured many topics, such as: introduction to space governance, international laws, space sustainability, the role of spectrum management and ITU, and the future of space governance.
Meanwhile, the “Introduction to Space Sustainability” program addressed the importance of sustainability in managing spectrum and orbits, explored ITU’s mechanisms for international coordination, protecting the spectrum from harmful interference, and ensuring fair access to space resources.
The program also highlighted the relationship between space sustainability and international agreements, while discussing challenges related to satellites and space debris.
It concluded with practical solutions to address these issues and showcased notable initiatives supporting the field.
The programs are part of the DRA's ongoing efforts to develop public policy and digital regulatory expertise and promote broader regulatory awareness.
Since its establishment in 2021, the academy has delivered several training programs, benefiting over 1,500 individuals from both the public and private sectors in over 91 countries.
