20250519510Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), is hosting the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25) with the participation of more than 190 countries, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), under the title: “Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development”. The symposium will take place at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh from August 31 to September 3, 2025.
Hosting this symposium reflects the international community’s confidence in the Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the digital field, its contributions to achieving the goals of the ITU, and its support for the objectives of sustainable digital development and the pursuit of solutions to connect humanity, reinforcing its position as a hub for dialogue and innovative digital regulation.
Since its inception 25 years ago, the GSR has worked to promote dialogue in the ICT sector among regulators, policy makers, officials, and stakeholders. It serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge on the latest regulatory developments and adopting best practices at the international level.
The GSR25 also includes high-level sessions that address strategic topics such as strengthening collaborative digital regulation, supporting digital inclusion, building trust in the digital environment, protecting users, developing human capacities in emerging technologies, and defining regulatory frameworks for an innovative and sustainable digital future.
On the sidelines of the GSR25, CST is organizing Side Event that serves as a platform for showcasing regulatory innovations and emerging technologies, as well as exchanging insights on the future of digital regulation. It will be launched on August 31 through the “Media Oasis” in its tenth edition, in partnership with the Ministry of Media. It will include pavilions for major national projects and initiatives such as NEOM and Spirit of Saudi Arabia, in addition to government entities such as the Ministry of Sports, the Aseer Development Authority, and Digital Saudi. In addition to hosting several pavilions showcasing the latest innovations and regulatory technologies (RegTech), along with the participation of leading local and international companies specialized in the communications, Space, and technology sectors.
The Side Event will also host the SYNC Summit, digital wellbeing initiative by Ithra, which will feature dialogue sessions about the initiative under the title “Gen Alpha, Gen AI: Who’s Protecting Our Future Generation?”.
On September 2, the Side Event will feature the TEDxRiyadh event, which will highlight inspiring ideas and experiences across several themes, including technology and artificial intelligence. This edition will be under the theme “Beyond Boundaries” to showcase 12 stories that seek to change traditional patterns and open new horizons for innovation.
The Side Event agenda also includes panel discussions on key topics such as the future of artificial intelligence, the regulatory governance challenges of quantum technologies, and the role of regulatory policies and advanced infrastructure in enabling gaming and esports, in addition to the SpaceUp competition that aims to develop innovative Space-based solutions for vital sectors.
