Communications, Space and Technology Commission Issues the Fourth Edition of the "Sustainability in the Communications, Space and Technology Sector" Report
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission issued the fourth edition of the "Sustainability in the Communications, Space and Technology Sector" report, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which reveals the role of digital technologies and the space sector in supporting the sustainable development goals, by promoting the principles of universal access, adopting the circular economy, and raising energy use efficiency, in addition to their contribution to monitoring climate changes and enabling effective response to environmental challenges.
The report monitors the Kingdom's most notable initiatives in the field of digital sustainability, highlighting 16 success stories in aspects of environmental, economic, and social sustainability, aiming to raise awareness of the dimensions of sustainability in various fields, and the positive impact of technology in achieving sustainable development targets, in addition to reviewing the most prominent success stories in the service of humanity.
The report addresses the most prominent achievements made by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission according to the targets of the sustainability framework (C.I.R.C.L.E.S), which led to praise for its pioneering role in setting the rules of the digital circular economy globally, launching a call for cooperation with the digital equilibrium index, organizing the second edition of the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) Forum, as well as selecting 3 companies within the communications and technology sector as sustainability pioneers, and the Commission's achievement of an advanced classification in the energy performance card issued by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center.
The report monitors the efforts of more than 25 entities from the public and private sectors in the field of digital sustainability, which relied on various technologies such as AI-powered robots, predictive models, environmentally friendly materials, and space-enhanced technologies and satellite applications, in addition to presenting future directions that will lead to building sustainability in the digital and space future.
