CITC Governor: Council of Ministers' Approval of the Communications and Information Technology Sector Strategy 2023 a Testament to Continued Leadership Support for the Sector

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, extended his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, King Salman bin Abdulaziz -may God preserve him-, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Council's approval of the "Communications and Information Technology Sector Strategy 2023." He affirmed that the Council's approval of this strategy is a testament to the continuous support this vital sector enjoys from the Kingdom's leadership.

The Council issued its approval of the strategy during its session yesterday, Tuesday, with an ambitious vision to enable a connected present toward reaching an innovative future. The strategy targets stimulating the development of digital infrastructure, enhancing competition and investment, and providing innovative solutions and new business models for a thriving digital economy.

In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Al-Ruwais affirmed that this strategy "represents a roadmap charting the sector's path toward reaching exceptional levels in many aspects. The Communications and Information Technology Commission is proud to be one of the entities contributing to the preparation of this strategy, and is committed to its fundamental role in achieving it, by identifying 5 priorities out of 13 priorities under the strategy, and striving to implement 10 initiatives out of 24 initiatives supported by the strategy.

These initiatives target improving the effectiveness of the communications market, improving information technology regulations, and stimulating the adoption of emerging technologies to consolidate the Kingdom's position as one of the leading countries in digital transformation.

His Excellency the Governor concluded his statement with sincere thanks to His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Commission's Board of Directors, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, for his belief in the sector's entities and their ability to achieve this ambitious strategy, and to bring the sector to a high level of maturity and effectiveness.
