His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, opened today at the Commission's headquarters in Riyadh the first workshop of the National Team preparing for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019, attended by representatives of government agencies.

At the start of the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Al-Ruwais welcomed the representatives of government agencies, pointing to the importance of combining efforts to unify the Kingdom's position on the topics to be raised at the conference, in a way that achieves its objectives.

The workshop reviewed the agenda items arising from the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019, matters related to mobile terrestrial services, fixed services, satellite services, broadband applications in mobile service, in addition to maritime, aeronautical, and amateur services.

It is noted that World Radiocommunication Conferences are held every three or four years, during which the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and the orbits of geostationary and non-geostationary satellites relative to the Earth, are reviewed and revised, according to an agenda determined by the Council of the International Telecommunication Union.
