Governor of the "Communications Commission" hands over IoT Virtual Network Operator (IoT-VNO) license to two companies

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, handed over the license to provide IoT Virtual Network Operator (IoT-VNO) services to both "Daawiyat Integrated Telecommunications and Information Technology Company" and "Hadeer Al-Aalat Contracting Company"; on the sidelines of the Third Saudi International IoT Conference held during the period March 8-10 of this month.

The issuance of this license comes as an extension of the Commission's efforts aimed at enabling service providers to keep pace with the latest global technologies, develop the communications market, and stimulate investment in it. The issuance of this license allows the licensee to lease or purchase the necessary capacities from the mobile communications network on a wholesale basis from the host infrastructure service provider without the need for spectrum allocations or building any wireless networks, which will contribute to enabling companies to provide Internet of Things (IoT) services and machine-to-machine communication, such as smart meter services for the electricity grid and IoT solutions in transportation, logistics, and smart cities, among others.

It is worth noting that the Communications and Information Technology Commission had launched the IoT Virtual Network Operator (IoT-VNO) license in 2018, outlining the conditions for obtaining this license. The Commission invited those wishing to obtain more information about the license to visit
