20250519510On the sidelines of LEAP25, the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) has announced the completion of 15 tech products from global and local companies in the second cohort of the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox, marking a 110% increase from the previous cohort.
Certificates of completion were awarded by CST Governor Dr. Mohammad Altamimi to participating companies in the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox, which aims to foster a flexible environment for launching innovative business models and solutions, supporting entrepreneurs and innovators, advancing the emerging technology sector, and expanding the diversity of available tech products in the market.
Dr. Abdulaziz Albatli, General Manager of Technology Enablement at CST, delivered a presentation highlighting the key figures related to the success of the second cohort of the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox. The completion rate of participating companies increased by 88%, international participation rose by 25%, and there was an 83% increase in the number of used technologies.
Al-Batli pointed out that the results of the first cohort were exceptional, with participants achieving an average revenue increase of 40%, with some reaching growth of up to 66%. The customer base expanded by 250%, demonstrating the flexibility of their solutions. Employment rates increased by 30%, which reinforces the role of the regulatory sandbox in driving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and positively impacting GDP growth.
The companies participating in the second cohort of the Emerging Technologies Regulatory Sandbox successfully introduced products leveraging various advanced technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twin, Space Technologies, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/Extended Reality (AR/VR/XR), and 3D Printing. The sandbox provided a secure environment for these innovations to mature, and maximize their potential across different sectors.
CST invites interested parties and industry experts to register for the third cohort of the regulatory sandbox. Applications are open for participation in seven key technology areas, including Blockchain, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Space Technologies. The registration period starts on May 11, 2025, details will be announced later.
