Communications, Space and Technology Commission organizes a training program on the Domain Name System (DNS)

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission organized a training program on the Domain Name System (DNS) and Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) technology, with the aim of contributing to building specialized capabilities and skills in the field of domain names, enhancing security and reliability aspects related to them, and raising their adoption rate in the Kingdom according to the most prominent international specifications and standards, in cooperation with the Digital Government Authority (DGA) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

This program comes as part of a series of specialized programs held by the Commission, benefiting more than 300 participants from government and academic entities and companies specialized in providing internet services, with the aim of raising awareness in the field of domain names in particular, as the Kingdom is among the first countries in the Middle East and North Africa to activate the secure extension in the field of domain names and make it available to users, and the Kingdom also achieved first place globally in terms of the percentage of traffic serving DNSSEC.

This year's edition of the program came with the participation of more than 40 trainees from government entities and accredited registrars, who trained over five days on the basics of the domain name system and related technologies, and learned about the most prominent features of DNSSEC, and how it contributes to enhancing its protection, in addition to how to activate the system and manage related processes with practical applications, where DNSSEC provides a set of technical specifications aimed at securing and protecting the information provided by the system and contributing to reducing cyberattacks.
