Communications, Space and Technology Commission issues the Saudi Domain Names Report 2022
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission issued the first report on Saudi domain names 2022, with the aim of highlighting the Kingdom's leading role in this field, and raising awareness of the importance of the domain name, its advantages, and the roles of accredited registrars.
The report addresses the most prominent features of the Saudi domain names development journey, spanning more than 25 years, the most important regulatory and technical efforts led by the Commission, and the most prominent statistics and figures related to it, with the number of registered domains reaching more than 92,000 domains, with an estimated annual growth rate of 11%, which represents three times the growth rate for general and international domains.
The report reviews the advantages of the Saudi domain and research and innovation in it, and also touches on the reliable infrastructure that provides more than 150 copies of geographically distributed servers, which are among the largest in the world, in addition to the Commission's role in enhancing transparency and competitiveness through regulations and guidelines, as well as enabling its local market, and international coordination and integration to develop the market and improve service and raise its quality.
It is noted that the domain name is the main resource of the Domain Name System (DNS), one of the most important components of internet infrastructure, and the main enabler for accessing services, applications, and digital content on the network.
