Communications, Space and Technology Commission issues Game Mode report for the first quarter of 2023
The Communications, Space and Technology Commission issued the first quarter 2023 report of the "Game Mode" initiative, which revealed an improvement in video gaming performance in the Kingdom of up to 21% compared to the first quarter of last year, 2022. The report also showed an improvement in the stability rate of video game latency in the Kingdom (Bufferbloat) to 96% compared to the same period in 2022.
The report included download speed performance results for video games across gaming platforms in the Kingdom compared to users' package speeds, with Mobily topping the list of operators in download speed percentage for video games via the PlayStation platform at 91%, the Steam platform at 66%, and the Xbox platform at 97%. The report showed STC and Mobily sharing the lead in best latency rate for 7 games, namely Call of Duty, FIFA, Apex Legends, VALORANT, OVERWATCH2, Rocket League, and Battlefield, while STC led the list in 5 games, namely Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, Dota 2, World of Warcraft, and Rainbow Six Siege, while STC and Zain led the list in League of Legends, Mobily led the list in PUBG, and Zain led the list in Among Us.
The report also provided a set of guidelines for improving internet connection quality for video games and ways to ensure the safety of the home network and the efficiency of the network devices used, and included ways for users to contribute to the "Game Mode" initiative and achieve its goals by registering to obtain the "Fixed Internet Meter" device, which enables the user to know the performance of the internet service provided to them, including the performance of the most popular applications and video games, as the report keeps pace with the latest games in the gaming community, adding their performance indicators in its periodic quarterly edition.
The "Game Mode" initiative comes as part of the effort to enhance competitiveness among telecommunications service providers to provide the best experience for gamers, and raise the level of transparency in the market by publishing data results and indicators, and enabling investors and interested parties to view market performance indicators in the Kingdom.
