Communications, Space and Technology Commission leads international efforts to bridge the digital divide in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission, represented by its Governor, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, announced the launch of a joint initiative with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), aiming to find innovative solutions harnessing traditional and satellite communications services to contribute to the challenge of bridging the digital divide globally, as part of the "SDG Digital" event held at United Nations headquarters in New York.

During his speech at the event, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), His Excellency Al-Tamimi affirmed the pivotal role of the communications, space and technology sector in driving sustainable development to achieve well-being and prosperity for all, noting that the launch of the initiative comes as an affirmation of the Kingdom's leading and pioneering role in harnessing communications, space and technology services to serve humanity.

It is noted that the "SDG Digital" event seeks to shed light on data and digital technologies and their important role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, and the importance of directing digital technologies to contribute to facing emerging challenges.
