Communications Commission suspends SMSA from accepting any new orders for individuals and directs it to process current shipments for beneficiaries

The Communications and Information Technology Commission today, Monday, suspended Saudi Middle East Airmail Services Company Limited (SMSA Express) from providing any new postal services to the individual sector, or concluding new contracts for the business sector, until further notice, as a result of its violation of a number of provisions of the postal service beneficiaries' rights protection rules document.

The Commission instructed SMSA Express to move quickly to find radical solutions regarding delays in delivering current shipments, and to respond to its customers' inquiries via its digital and phone channels, and to inform the Commission within a week of this date of what has been done.

The Commission also stressed to the company that it will take all necessary regulatory measures should it fail to correct the situation and promptly process customer complaints within the specified deadline, including withdrawing the company's license and suspending all services it provides, with the company bearing all regulatory consequences before other relevant parties for its violation of the Commission's regulations and decisions.

In closing its statement, the Commission stressed to all postal service providers the need to take all necessary measures to provide postal services of the required quality, noting that it is continuing to protect beneficiaries' rights and to impose all necessary penalties and sanctions on violating companies.
