"Communications Commission" signs agreement with "Monsha'at" to qualify small and medium enterprises to work as Saudi domain name registration agents

The Communications and Information Technology Commission signed a joint cooperation agreement with the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises "Monsha'at," to establish a dedicated track aimed at empowering and qualifying a number of small and medium enterprises and accrediting them as

, with qualification in this track to be carried out by "Monsha'at," while "Communications Commission" will provide technical support to the qualified enterprises.

The agreement includes exempting qualified enterprises from some accreditation controls and requirements, providing training and technical support necessary for connecting to registration systems, in addition to raising awareness of innovative services, facilitating the participation of qualified enterprises in international forums, and supporting these enterprises financially, morally, and logistically.

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, explained that the agreement will contribute to localizing technical expertise in this field, and encouraging small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs to enter the local and international domain name market, and enhancing investment in hosting and electronic services, in addition to its contribution to increasing focus on building innovative and specialized services in this field.

For his part, His Excellency the Governor of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises "Monsha'at," Engineer Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed, affirmed that the signing of this agreement comes as part of supporting and empowering small and medium enterprises to participate in promising investment fields that will contribute to finding more digital solutions and alternatives, and that the agreement comes as an extension of a number of agreements concluded by "Monsha'at" with the aim of supporting and empowering small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom's regions, to raise their contribution to GDP to 35% by 2030.

"Communications Commission" had previously launched the first phase of registration agents for Saudi domain names (.السعودية, .SA), and opened the door for the private sector to apply for accreditation as an official registration agent to provide Saudi domain name registration services, after fulfilling the regulatory requirements outlined on the official website of the Saudi Network Information Center (

www.nic.sa

) affiliated with the Commission.

It is worth noting that "Monsha'at" is keen to enhance cooperation with ministries, authorities, government entities, and international organizations regarding its jurisdictions, and works diligently to regulate, support, develop, and nurture the small and medium enterprises sector in the Kingdom in accordance with best global practices.
