"Communications Commission" signs partnership agreement with "Elm" to update spectrum systems

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, signed today, Sunday, at the Commission's headquarters in Riyadh, a framework partnership agreement between the Commission and Elm Company to update electronic spectrum management systems, with the aim of localizing spectrum management technologies and systems in the Kingdom, through frequency allocation and licensing, conducting electromagnetic compatibility processes, simulating radio systems, implementing the National Spectrum Plan, monitoring spectrum use, and international frequency coordination processes.

On this occasion, His Excellency the Governor of the Commission, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, said that this agreement comes as part of the Commission's work to raise the efficiency of spectrum management systems and services, and maintain a high and stable level for the work and services provided, and raise the information security of the National Frequency Register.

His Excellency Dr. Al-Ruwais added that the agreement includes establishing a modern national digital platform for spectrum management, which will lead to integration and alignment with spectrum monitoring stations distributed throughout the Kingdom, and help in collecting and analyzing big data, connecting with relevant entities, and updating the data of the National Frequency Register.

It is noted that spectrum management is a set of technical and administrative procedures necessary to ensure the organized and effective performance of various wireless services, and prevent the occurrence of any harmful interference. Since radio frequencies are not bound by the geographic borders of countries, spectrum management activities are global in nature and are conducted in accordance with international radio regulations issued by the International Telecommunication Union, one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations concerned with all matters of communications at the global level.
