"Communications Commission" renews its call to the public to submit their views on the draft document of terms for providing communications and information technology services

The Communications and Information Technology Commission renewed its invitation to the public to submit their views on the updated "draft document of terms for providing communications and information technology services," which aims to develop the regulatory environment governing the relationship between the communications service provider and the user, whether at the individual level or the business sector level in both its government and commercial forms, with the purpose of improving their experience by adopting the best international standards, practices, and experiences, and what has been issued by international organizations in the field of protecting the rights of communications and information technology services users.

The Commission had previously explained the most prominent updates included in the document, including the addition of detailed provisions related to clarity and transparency to protect the user's right to obtain correct information, and some provisions regulating the marketing communication process by the service provider, and the implications of amending contract terms by the service provider, in addition to obligating service providers to be clear in defining their obligations regarding service quality and minimum quality levels, and mechanisms for discounts or refunds to the user in case the service provider fails to meet these standards, and detailing some provisions related to protecting the user's right to maintain the confidentiality of their information, and adding new provisions regulating prepaid services, and rules related to protecting the rights of users with disabilities, and users from the government and commercial business sector.

The Commission is providing the opportunity for relevant entities and interested members of the public to participate in expressing their views on the draft document, by reviewing the updated draft document through the Commission's website (www.cst.gov.sa) and submitting views in writing, supported by justifications and necessary details, no later than Thursday 07/05/1441H, corresponding to 02/01/2020, and sending them through one of the following means:

● Hand delivery (a paper copy and an electronic copy) at the headquarters of the Communications and Information Technology Commission.

● By mail (a paper copy and an electronic copy) using the following address:
