Communications Commission renews its call for views on the regulatory framework for cybersecurity in the communications and information technology sector

The Communications and Information Technology Commission renewed its invitation to the public to review the document "Regulatory Framework for Cybersecurity in the Communications and Information Technology Sector," and submit their views on it, as part of the Commission's efforts to regulate and govern cybersecurity in the sector, and reduce risks to communications and information technology, considering it an important part of the Kingdom's critical infrastructure and one of the fundamental pillars of economic growth.

The Commission added that the issuance of this document aims to protect the public interest and the interests of users, and preserve the confidentiality of communications and information security, according to the highest standards of quality and safety, and by raising the level of cybersecurity maturity in the communications and information technology sector, and encouraging the sector to apply best practices for cybersecurity measures.

The Commission also noted that this document comes as an extension of the efforts made to enhance cybersecurity in the communications and information technology sector in the Kingdom, including the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which recently announced a public consultation on digital security policies for the communications and information technology sector, as well as the efforts of the National Cybersecurity Authority and sector partners.

The Commission urged relevant parties to submit all views and comments related to this document by responding to the specified questions, in a detailed manner supported by justifications, and based on measurement of the current situation, or relevant international experiences and studies.
