Communications and Information Technology Commission publishes the regulation on registering two-character domain names under the Kingdom's international top-level domain (.sa)

The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced the publication of the regulation on registering two-character domain names under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's international top-level domain (.sa) on the website of the Saudi Network Information Center.

The regulation covers all aspects related to beginning registration of two-character domain names, whereby two-character domain names will be registered for "eligible" registrants, being every natural or legal person who applied for registration of a domain name and had it registered before 10:00 a.m. on Monday 30 Dhul-Hijjah 1431H, corresponding to December 6, 2010, in addition to those registered in the "special" phase, which is a period during which only eligible registrants are given the opportunity to register two-character domain names corresponding to their registered three-character domain names, with the special phase extending from 10:00 a.m. on Monday 6 Safar 1432H, corresponding to January 10, 2011, and ending at 10:00 a.m. on Monday 2 Rabi al-Thani 1432H, corresponding to March 7, 2011, in addition to the "general" phase, which is the phase in which the general public may register two-character domain names, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday 28 Jumada al-Ula 1432H, corresponding to May 2, 2011.

The Commission invited visitors to the Saudi Network Information Center website to view the new regulations concerning the organization of Arabic domain names.
