Communications and Information Technology Commission Organizes Workshop for Government Entities to Prepare for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2015

The Communications and Information Technology Commission organized, on Sunday and Monday, 3-4 Sha'ban 1435H, a workshop aimed at preparing for the World Radiocommunication Conference scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, in November 2015.

His Excellency the Governor of the Commission, Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Darrab, opened the workshop, welcomed the participants, and affirmed the importance of its topic. A group of specialists in radiocommunications and telecommunications and IT services from various government entities and telecom service providers in the Kingdom took part in this workshop, during which ongoing activities in preparation for this conference were reviewed. The conference will review international radio regulations, including establishing new frequency band allocations for radiocommunication services, and setting out the regulatory procedures and technical standards for sharing the use of these allocations.

This workshop was held with the aim of early preparation and coordination for discussing the topics included in the conference's agenda and formulating the Kingdom's views on them in a manner that serves its interests, and that enhances the provision and rollout of various telecommunications services in the Kingdom and keeps pace with global regulatory and technical trends and developments in these services.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom submitted, at the eighteenth meeting of the Arab Permanent Working Group for Spectrum, recently held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, a number of working papers aimed at coordinating Arab states' positions on the items included in the conference's agenda, and these proposals were adopted. The Kingdom also participates in all Arab, regional, and international meetings in preparation for this conference.
