Communications and Information Technology Commission Launches "Safe Internet" Campaign Today to Protect Children from Internet Risks

The Communications and Information Technology Commission is launching today its "Safe Internet" awareness campaign dedicated to protecting children from internet risks, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The campaign aims to raise children's awareness of how to use the internet safely and inform them of the risks they may face when misusing it.

The "Safe Internet" awareness campaign is being launched in three phases, each including numerous interactive awareness, educational, and entertainment programs and activities, in addition to interactive training workshops for male and female teachers. The first phase of the campaign will launch through mobile interactive awareness exhibitions at a number of shopping centers in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, with the first event to be held at Al-Rashid Mall in Khobar Governorate during 10-11/2/1438H, the second event during 14-15/2/1438H at Granada Mall in Riyadh, and the third event in Jeddah Governorate at Red Sea Mall during 18-19/2/1438H.

The second phase of the "Safe Internet" campaign begins with interactive training workshops for more than 600 male and female teachers in the educational districts of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, so that these teachers become trainers and safe-internet ambassadors for their colleagues in other schools and their students nationwide. The "Safe Internet" awareness campaign concludes with its third phase, which includes holding mobile awareness exhibitions inside schools, presenting interactive field awareness activities for children to convey preventive awareness messages that will help raise their awareness of how to access the internet safely.

It is worth noting here that the campaign's activities will continue permanently beyond these three phases, through the campaign's official website and interactive campaign accounts on social media, which will be launched gradually throughout the campaign's phases, so as to serve as permanent preventive awareness channels for children and their parents on how to access the internet safely.
