"The Communications and Information Technology Commission" Invites the Public to Submit Their Views on the Planned Licensing of Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Services in the Kingdom

The Communications and Information Technology Commission announced today that it is seeking public comments on its intention to offer a license for the provision of Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services, with the aim of giving relevant parties and interested members of the public the opportunity to share their views on the extent of the need to offer licenses of this type, based on the current state of the telecommunications services market in the Kingdom, by answering a number of questions included in the document.

The Commission noted that this public consultation document is an extension of efforts it has made in the recent period to encourage the provision of MVNO services in the Kingdom, following amendments to the rules and regulatory frameworks related to the provision of the service, based on Commission Resolution No. (399/1440) dated 16/2/1440H, and Resolution No. (401/1440) dated 11/5/1440H — in order to enhance competition in the sector for the benefit of the end user.
