Commission Hosts the Meeting of the Gulf Team Tasked with Preparing for the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference

The Communications and Information Technology Commission is hosting today, Sunday, 29 Safar 1436H, for three days, the meeting of the Gulf team tasked with preparing for the World Radiocommunication Conference scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, in November 2015.

A number of specialists in radiocommunications fields from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are participating in this meeting, while the Kingdom is represented by representatives from government and civil entities and public telecom service providers in the Kingdom.

Attendees will review the developments made on the items of the 2015 conference agenda in the study groups of the International Telecommunication Union tasked with studying the issues referred to it by the previous World Radiocommunication Conference in 2012, and the ongoing local, regional and international activities to prepare for it.

These items include a review of the international Radio Regulations, including finding new frequency allocations for radiocommunication services, and developing regulatory procedures and technical standards for sharing between different radio services in using these allocations.

The Commission's hosting of the Gulf meeting comes with the aim of early preparation and coordination to discuss the topics on the conference's agenda, and to coordinate and unify the positions of the GCC countries on the conference's topics in a way that achieves their interests, and enhances the provision of telecom services in the GCC countries and keeps pace with technical trends in this important vital sector.
