'Commission' Holds an Introductory Workshop on Data Governance Rules

The Communications and Information Technology Commission held, in cooperation with the National Data Management Office, a workshop to introduce data governance in the telecommunications and information technology sector, with the aim of raising awareness among service providers in the sector, and learning about the importance of data and how to manage and govern it based on the best global practices.

The workshop was attended by representatives from the National Data Management Office, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Saudi Telecom Company, and IBM, where a number of topics were reviewed and discussed on regulating data handling, increasing data quality and value, protecting sensitive data, protecting personal data, in addition to discussing the economic impacts of data investment by service providers in cooperation with other sectors, and presenting the experiences of some companies in applying data governance.

The workshop comes as part of the "Communications and Information Technology Commission's" work on improving and developing the protection of users' data and privacy, and regulating and governing data among various entities in the telecommunications and information technology sector.
