'Commission' Holds a Training Workshop on Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) Addresses

The "Communications and Information Technology Commission" held, at its headquarters in Riyadh today, Monday, a training workshop opened by His Excellency the Vice Governor for Regulatory and Competition Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, on Internet Protocol Version 6 addresses "

IPv6

," presented by a select group of international engineers specialized in this field, in cooperation with the "

RIPE NCC

" organization, which is concerned with distributing internet addresses in Europe and the Middle East.

The workshop comes as part of the Commission's efforts to raise awareness among specialists and inform them of the fundamentals of applying IPv6 addresses within those entities' networks, in addition to guiding trainees on the best security practices related to this version, while reviewing the management and monitoring tools required.

The workshop is part of a series of training programs organized by the Commission to spread the use of these addresses, and develop the necessary capabilities to deal with them, which more than 450 specialists in the Kingdom have benefited from.

The "Communications and Information Technology Commission" also called on all entities in the Kingdom to use and adopt Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) addresses in their basic internet services (domain names, website, email); given its many benefits, which become evident given the limitations of Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) addresses, as well as to accommodate the steady increase in the number of internet users in the Kingdom and around the world.
